We have the pleasure to announce the formation of a new company, Cathedral Training Ltd, which has been formed to provide training solutions in Lincolnshire and beyond.
The company is to be led by Melanie Reid and backed by two local investors, Daniel Ingall and Brad Watson. Daniel and Brad run their own local established construction businesses.
I have spent 20 years in construction operating a wide range of plant on Civils and Utilities work before attending college to obtain a number of safety qualifications and moving into training. I enjoy sharing my practical and theoretical knowledge with the learners, and my reward is watching the development and achievements they make.
I spent 24 years in the Royal Engineers as a Plant Operative, Instructor and Manager. I conducted construction projects in both the UK mainland and overseas countries such as Canada, Bosnia, Kenya and Iraq.
I spent 3 years as a plant instructor at the Royal School of Military Engineering teaching a variety of plant such as Crawler Tractors, Wheeled and Tracked Loaders, Excavators, Crushers, Screeders and General Construction Ops
On leaving the army I continued instructing and testing on plant equipment and assessing construction NVQ’s
I recently spent 4 years in Liberia as part of a training and development team within a Bio Mass production company. My main responsibilities were recruitment and training of company plant operatives in both forestry and quarry operations
In March 2012 I returned to CPCS training and testing and I am now employed as the Lead IQA at Cathedral Training
I started my career in the construction industry in the late 1960’s as a trainee road worker.
I then served 22 years “on the tools” carrying out highway construction and maintenance ranging from preparing green field sites to motorway infrastructures. This was then followed by 11 years as a Health and Safety adviser for a Local Authority
I am now employed as a trainer / assessor for the CPCS and NPORS Plant Schemes and prepare and present a wide range of Health & Safety Courses mainly relating to the construction industry.
